Drew - November 2001
Who do you think was the best new musical artist of 2001?
Matt - San Diego, CA
I believe as I'm sure many others do also that Alicia Keys was the best new artist. There is something to be said about an artist who can just sit behind a piano and captivate you. The best part is ... she's even better live.
Being a newly licensed driver, I'm very excited about my first car. What was your first car (make, model, color, etc)?
Kyle - Illinois
My first car was an 1981 Toyota Celica. It was supposed to be tan but you couldn't tell because of all the rust. I loved that car.
When asked on Much Music what you had learned doing the filming of the "Give Me Just One Night" video, you mentioned learning not to mess with iguanas. What is the real story behind that? What happened that made you learn that lesson?
Barb - Phoenix, AZ
During that video shoot, we were doing the shots where we were coming into shore on the boat and as soon as we got up to the sand we saw about 10 iguanas just standing there. We would move towards them and throw rocks but they just wouldn't move then one started coming towards us. We then decided that it was okay for the Iguanas to stay there in the sun.
I'm in college, and sometimes I find it difficult to stay focused. What do you do to stay motivated when you are struggling with something difficult?
Natasha - California
Trust me, if anyone can relate to struggling to stay focused it's me. I used to have a real problem with that. What I do now is I think about the reason I started whatever it is that I'm doing. Usually there was some strong motivation behind starting it. It also sometimes helps to think about the consequences of not staying focused.
What would you say was the most disappointing thing that's happened in your career so far?
Katie - Pennsylvania
I have been very lucky not to have too many disappointing moments. However anytime you read a bad review or someone is bashing you in the press that can be pretty discouraging.
I was wondering how it works with 98 Degrees products that are marketed. Do you guys have any say so or final approval of what is put out for sale, like the Game, the Racing Champions car, the Bedding, things like that?
Melody - California
There are a lot of different ways of doing the merchandise. We do have say over what does and doesn't get put out. Sometimes the final product is a little disappointing but for the most part is usually pretty good stuff. You've probably seen a lot of different kinds of merchandise for artists but haven't seen the same stuff for us. This is a conscious decision on our part.
Some kids at school have been calling me fat. I was wondering if you ever had to deal with things like that, and if you have how did you overcome it?
Valerie - Des Moines, IA
To be perfectly honest you will be dealing with people like that your entire life. The worst part is that it has nothing to do with you. I'll tell you what my parents told me and that is that there are a lot of insecure people in the world and the only way they can make themselves feel better is by tearing you down. You just have to hold your head high and be happy with how God made you.
I have heard many rumors that Revelation is 98 Degrees' last CD. Are you guys taking an extended break or, as we all hope, will you will heading back into the recording studio in 2002?
Briana - Ventura, CA
I had a feeling that this question was going to come up. The answer is "We are taking an extended break." Music right now is in a different place than it was in 1997 when we entered the scene. We are just taking our time to see how we fit into it. We also have been presented with a lot of opportunities over the past couple of years that we want to explore. All of these things take time. As always we appreciate your patience and continued support.
